President: Hon. Tamiza Hockenhull The President steers the organization and acts as the chief liaison for the Inn members. President-Elect: Shumsha Hanif-Cruz The President-Elect will be President the during the 2019-2020 term. This Executive Board Member assists with special projects and attends the Executive Board Meetings to become familiar with the functions and duties of the President and the Executive Board. Immediate Past- President: Corrine Bielejeski, Antioch, CA The Past President acts as the first backup to the president and aide to the other chairs. Treasurer: Hon. Dorothy Chou Proudfoot The Treasurer acts as the chief accountant for the Inn's members. Developing a budget, collecting dues, and paying bills are the main functions of this position. Secretary: Lauren Powe, Oakland, CA The Secretary acts as the primary record keeper regarding Executive Board actions. The Secretary is present at the Executive Board meetings. This Board member keeps and disseminates the minutes of each meeting to all the Executive Board Members. Membership Chair: Corrine Bielejeski, Antioch, CA The Membership Chair acts as the chief developer and maintainer of our Inn's membership. Members are recruited by nomination and through open application. Program Chair: Peter Caldwell, Alameda County Superior Court and Kim Hunter, Alameda County District Attorney's Office A Program Chair acts as the chief team and program coordinator. This Chair designs each team with the correct balance of experience, diversity and practice. Publicity Chair: (webmaster) Pelayo Llamas, Jr., Oakland City Attorney's Office This Chair is responsible for all publicity related to the Earl Warren American Inn of Court and its members. Achieving Excellence Chair: Meena Sandhu, Oakland, CA The Achieving Excellence Chair is responsible for marshaling the submission of materials and information with the goal of attaining Platinum Status from the American Inns of Court each year. Mentoring and Scholarship Chair: Shumsha Hanif-Cruz, Oakland, CA This Chair acts as the chief developer of formal mentoring relationships and also administers the D. Lowell Jensen Scholarship Program. Awards Chairs: Kim Hunter, Alameda County District Attorney’s Office, and Peter Caldwell The Awards Chair facilitates the preparation and submission of possible candidates for National American Inns of Court recognition. The chair is also responsible for presenting awards to Earl Warren Inn teams and individual members at its annual June dinner banquet. Internal awards recognize teams in categories such as Best Overall MCLE program, Best Researched Program, Best Audience Participation Program, and Best Musical Program, among others awards. Mentorship Chairs – Lauren Powe, Oakland, CA The Mentorship Chairs pair new members with veteran members to facilitate social interaction and professional mentoring. Scholarship Chair: Shumsha Hanif-Cruz, Oakland, CA The Scholarship Chair creates and publicizes the annual D. Lowell Jensen scholarship, obtains donations, and review applications, and select scholarship recipients.
